Eliza: 7 months old

I know I say this every month, but time is flying, and my baby girl is growing up so fast. She is already 7 months, and we are into the year of her 1st birthday. I cannot begin to comprehend that, the fact that she was born last year.

7 months

Weight: No idea. Is that bad? I haven’t taken her to clinic for a weight check since she turned 6 months old – at that point she was 16lbs 1oz so I would imagine her to be at least 17lbs now.

Feeding: We have been weaning Eliza for a few weeks now, and she is doing so well. She loves her food – I haven’t found anything she won’t eat yet! Her current favourites are toast, yogurt, banana, orange, strawberries, grapes and cucumber.

weaning

She seems to have settled into a good routine with food. She has a bottle when she wakes between 6 and 7, then a breakfast of porridge or toast at about 9am after the school run. There is usually another bottle of milk about 11am, then lunch at 1pm – often some veg and fruit sticks, a sandwich and rice cakes or a fruit pot and wafer biscuit. She will then have a snack at school run time – a biscuit, corn snack or bowl of fruit. Then she eats her main meal with us at around 5pm – usually this will be whatever we are having. If we are eating something that isn’t suitable for her she will have a HiPP Organic pouch or jar. She finishes off with a bottle before bed at 7pm.

Sleep: Sleep is pretty good now. Eliza sleeps in her own room in her big cot now, and she has settled really well. She goes to bed at about 7pm and sleeps through until about 6am. I would love another hour in bed in the morning if I am honest, but I also know I really can’t complain about a 7 month old who sleeps through the night.

7 months

She takes her Ewan Snuggly and her Ewan the Dream Sheep to bed every night, as she has since she was first born. They seem to be her favourite at the moment, and I am considering investing in another Snuggly just in case we misplace one!

Likes and dislikes: She has a few favourite toys now – she still loves the Jumperoo for playtime and has really got the hang of bouncing now – she wears herself out in that one! She also loves a few new toys that she got for Christmas – Tomy eggs, a soft play cube, the Gumigem Bubba Bag and a sensory light tube.

7 months

She loves anything she can put in her mouth – she is definitely teething at the moment and so pretty much anything she gets her hands on will get a good chew! She also really enjoys anything sensory related, as well as still enjoying her baby sensory classes still. Lights are always a big hit with her, and she has a colour changing light in her bedroom which she will watch at bedtime and nap time.

Eliza adores her big brothers and sisters too, and it is so lovely to see their relationships developing. She will cuddle up with Gemma for a bedtime bottle, she likes to roll a ball backwards and forwards with Jacob – he is pretty protective of her too and doesn’t like anyone else at school trying to hold her! Max is her little playmate, the one who always makes her laugh. I can’t wait to see how they all fit together as they get older.

7 months

We have also recently got a puppy (yes I know, we are a bit bonkers) and she has already taken a shine to Eliza. She will sit quietly beside her, and if Eliza is crying she will rest her head gently on her lap until we come to get her. It’s another relationship that I can’t wait to watch develop over the years.

As for dislikes, she has got to the stage where she really doesn’t like anyone else to hold her. She will happily chat to and smile at other people if me or Kevin are holding her, but if we pass her across for a cuddle the bottom lip will come out and the tears will start. I think this is quite a normal age for separation anxiety and I know it will soon pass.

Firsts: As I mentioned above, this month saw Eliza spend her first night in her own room, and sleep in her cot for the first time. I thought she might have her first tooth by now, as we have had weeks or dribbling and red cheeks, but nothing has appeared yet! We also celebrated her first Christmas, which she was completely confused by – she spent most of the day playing with wrapping paper! There have been some smaller firsts too – she has been in the big trolley seat for the first time, and has had her first bath with her big brother.

7 months

I can’t believe that the next update will see my baby turn 8 months old. 8 months! She could be on the move by then – eeek!

Oh she looks so cute in her big cot!!

It sounds like she is doing fabulously and it’s great that she’s sleeping though. I don’t think it matters what time I get woken up, I will still always want an extra hour in bed. 😉

She is such a cutie. I have to confess I am soooo jealous that she is sleeping through. My youngest is 11 months and has slept through these last two nights. I am so hoping this is when the sleeping through starts.
