5 fun hen party ideas

wedding dresses UK

Wedding season is almost upon us, which means there are a lot of hen parties currently being planned. It can be really hard to think of unusual and unique ideas for the bride to be, especially if you’re in charge of planning. If you fancy a change from the usual dinner, drinks and dancing, then here are 3 of my favourite ideas to get you in the party mood.

  1. Soak up some sun. Instead of a hen night, make it a hen weekend. It’s so cheap to grab flights abroad these days, and with standard accommodation and a bit of spending money, you won’t be any more out of pocket than your usual night out. You don’t have to have wild nights out either – if that’s not your style you can spend the weekend soaking up some sun, relaxing on the beach, taking a dip in the pool and shopping for souvenirs.
  2. A day at the races. This is becoming more and more popular. It’s a chance to get dressed up – don’t forget the hat – and indulge in some fine dining and champagne. You can check out the odds before you go, and bet on your favourite horse at William Hill, before you get dolled up and head off to see the real life action ringside. Not only can you enjoy a girly day out, you even stand to win some serious cash – champagne’s on you!
  3. Photo shoot. This is one for the memory box. Book yourself and all the hens in for a glam photo shoot. Get your hair or lace wigs and make up done, decide on a dress code and get a set of professional photos taken. There is so much scope with this one – you can go for traditional portraits or something more fun – the canvas is yours!
  4. Spa day. This is what I went for myself – a day of pampering and relaxation with all my friends by my side. We booked a package deal, which included a treatment each – everything from hot stone massage to facials was on offer – use of the facilities all day (pool, jacuzzi, sauna) and a 3 course dinner to finish off. It’s the perfect way to prepare for the wedding day.
  5. Cookery or cocktail classes. This is another option that is becoming more and more popular. You can choose almost any classes these days, but cooking and cocktails seem to be a firm favourite. You can hone your skills or learn something completely new, and of course, you get the chance to consume the products you make too!

So, if you have a hen party to plan and you don’t fancy the traditional route, think outside the box. Get a notebook and write down the interests of all the group members and work outwards from there. There is sure to be something that you all enjoy, and you can plan the ultimate party to suit the bride and her hens.

It is more years than I wish to admit since I have been to or even been invited to go on a hen night I have some wicked memories of many I attended when I was younger though!

Hello Kate all the way from not so sunny Liverpool! Some really good suggestions you have made, can we suggest our own off the wall hen activity for those looking around the North West http://www.coverstarexperiences.co.uk/hen-parties-liverpool/ – we offer a recording studio experience for hens which is really popular, maybe add it to your list, would make a nice #5 for your readers!
