I have been an admirer of Trunki for a long time now – their ride on suitcase has been on my wish list pretty much since they came out, and since then I have watched the range grow and grow to include a whole heap of fabulous child (and parent) friendly products. We were recently sent 2 Paddlepaks for review, and as we were about to head off on holiday with lots of swimming and beach trips planned, it really couldn’t have been better timing!
The Paddlepak is designed as a child sized backpack, ideal for pool, beach and other places kids like to explore. It is water-resistant, lightweight and comes in lots of appealing aquatic designs. We chose the Shark and Clownfish options and eagerly packed them away for our holiday.
They look pretty small, but the size is deceptive. They are small enough for children to carry comfortably on their back, yet spacious enough to easily hold a towel, swimming kit, goggles, drink and snacks – everything you need for a swimming or beach trip, and less to pack into my overflowing bag! The shoulder straps are wide and extremely padded, and the bag itself is ever so lightweight, and so the children are happy to carry them for long periods of time – in fact they often forget they have them on. From a parents point of view, I like the hanging loops for storage, the mesh back which allows air to circulate around damp clothes, and the high visibility reflective trim which means I can spot them even when they are climbing over rock pools at the beach.
The kids love them, they really do. Jacob likes that he can choose to have the top rolled up or down, and he loves the zip pocket in the tail where he can keep ‘interesting things’ (stones, acorns and pennies usually). Gemma loves the bright colour, the padded straps, and the fact that none of her friends have the same bag. I know the Paddlepaks are designed as a swim/beach bag, but they could just as easily be used as a school or nursery bag. They are available in 2 sizes – 2 years + and 5 years +, so you can get the perfect size for your little one. We will definitely be investing in one of the smaller sizes for Max – the Paddlepak will be perfect for him to use for swimming lessons and days at nursery now that he is up on his feet and able to carry his own bag!
Trunki have kindly offered me the chance to run a giveaway too – if you would like to win a Paddlepak of your choice, all you need to do is enter via the rafflecopter form below, and you never know – you could be the proud owner of one soon!
