Review | Muck Boots

We are so lucky to live where we do. Devon boasts so many wonderful things from beaches and moorland, to the wonderful rivers and field we have right on our doorstep – literally. At the end of our road, there is are beautiful, grassy fields with a slow running river and natural stony ‘beach’ areas. We spend a lot of time there – which means we need good boots! Even when the weather is warm we tend to put the kids in boots, because they like to paddle!

We were recently sent some boots from the Muck Boots kids range – their new designs feature Transformers and My Little Pony, and they also have a wide colour range in their standard boots too.

Jacob has been trying the kids Hale boots with Bumble Bee. Similar in style to a traditional wellington boot, these have a wrap around rubber sole for stability in slippy conditions and a breathable mesh lining making them suitable for all weathers. The boots have a wide top and a pull tab, so they are easy to slip onto Jacob’s feet, and he tells me they are comfortable and warm. From a practical point of view, I love the self cleaning ribbed sole, which means I don’t end up with a load of mud tracked into the house, and they keep his feet dry. Well, apart from when he does this:

I will say, that when the boots do get very wet, they create a sort of vacuum effect, making them really hard to pull off – but as most children don’t go swimming in their boots, this shouldn’t really be a problem 😉

Eliza sometimes finds knee length boots a little hard to walk in, so she has a pair of the Muckster Kids II Low boots. Designed to fit like shoes, these are much easier for her to manage, and are really multi-purpose, perfect for splashing in puddles, wearing for walks in the countryside and popping on when she is playing in the garden.

Again, these feature a pull tab to make them easier to get on and off, and are 100% waterproof – which Eliza has been putting to the test with a paddle in the river. I can confirm that her feet stayed dry!

The Muckster II Low have a Flex-Foam and mesh lining, making them flexible and comfortable to wear in all conditions, as well as keeping feet cool in summer and warm in winter. The high traction rubber sole keeps slipping to a minimum – perfect for younger children who are just finding their feet.

Both the Hale and the Muckster II Low are fantastic, all round boots, which can replace traditional wellington boots. They are more comfortable, made from a much more flexible, and much softer neoprene material. The thick, non slip soles make them perfect for wet areas, and there are so many different styles available, from low shoes and ankle height options to knee length and ‘my first’ boots. They are slightly more expensive than traditional boots, but they offer so much more that I think that price is justified. They are high quality, and will easily last more than one child, so are perfect for passing on too.

Muck boots were the only boots my daughter managed not to ruin and they seemed to grow with her so that they lasted 2 years. I’m a big fan. #TriedTested

Oh my god, how cute are these. My son is obsessed with Transformers at the moment and I think you did mention to me before they have this range. I might have to convince Matthew to start wearing wellies. He never had a pair. They look like they are very water resistant. #triedtested

These boots look great! I love the fact they seem to be a lot higher than traditional boots which means water and mud are more likely to stay on the boots and not go on clothes! The smaller boots look perfect for paddling too and would be great to use on the beach for Mia as she loves paddling but doesn’t like the shale beaches that much! 🙂

How cool are these. My boys would love the normal ones but those little ones are fab for younger children who are just toddling. We are always out puddle jumping and on woodland walks so these would be a fab alternate to stiff welly boots #TriedTested

I’ve never heard of these before but they look great. We visited Anstey’s Cove in Torquay at the weekend which is really pebbly and could have done with some of those shoes for walking over the rocks #TriedTested

These look fab, great quality and longer lasting than normal wellies. I’m always on the lookout for decent outdoor boots so will definitely give these a look. #TriedTested

I was looking at these the other day – they look fab, and like they’d be much more comfortable than normal wellies. I love the shoes too – I bet they are much easier for little legs than tall boots. #TriedTested

“Self-cleaning robbed sole”?! I had no idea such things existed – that’s almost as exciting as when I found out about self-cleaning ovens?
