Review | Nutmeg school uniform

Can you believe there is just one week left of the summer holidays? The last 5 weeks have flown by, and we are gradually starting to prepare for the new school term – buying lunchboxes, checking shoes fit, and of course – getting new uniform. 

Gemma is starting high school, and we can only buy uniform from their approved retailer, which has cost me a small fortune. It has made me realise how lucky we are to be able to kit the boys out in well priced uniform from the supermarket, and this year we have gone for the Nutmeg range at Morrisons.

We were really impressed with the quality of the uniform. The Back to School range features Teflon coating, bobble resistant fabric and adjustable waist bands, to ensure durability and comfort to easily last the year. With 2 active boys, this is really important to me, as I cannot afford to keep replacing trousers which have been ripped when playing football, or jumpers which fade in the wash. 

Size wise, I would say the uniforms are pretty true to size. We chose to size up on the polo shirts just for longevity, but the sweatshirt Max is wearing here is his correct age, and you can see it fits well with some growing room. The trousers have a fantastic adjustable waist, which means you can get a perfect fit on all children – this is a real bonus for us, as Jacob has a very small waist, and if we buy the correct length trousers we often find they just fall off him! The trousers are available for just £3 a pair, polo shirts are just £2 for a pack of 2 and sweatshirts start at £2 – I can’t believe what good value they are!

As well as school uniforms, the range also includes PE kits.

Again, we found these pretty true to size, although the daps come up slightly small, so it’s worth trying those on before you buy. The tshirts and shorts are well made and feel as though they will stand up to the rigours of the playground, and they wash well too. The tshirts are £3 for 2 and the shorts £4 for 2 pairs, so again you really are getting incredible value for money. It’s not the end of the world if something needs replacing, but with the 200 day guarantee, that’s unlikely to happen anyway!

We all know how expensive back to school can be, but by choosing Nutmeg uniforms, you can save a small fortune, and know that everything you buy should last for the full school year – you really can’t argue with that!

So, I think we are ready for the new term. Although, I am not sure I am quite ready for this little boy to be heading off to school 🙁
