Review | Strive Weston shoes

Strive footwear

Working long shifts in the hospital means I need REALLY good shoes. There is nothing worse than trying to run up and down the corridors with blisters!

Strive Footwear recently got in touch to tell me about their range of shoes. Strive started making custom orthotics in 1980, and have since used this knowledge and expertise to incorporate orthotic technology into a range of premium footwear with a contoured footbed.

I chose the Weston shoe in a classic black leather, suitable for wearing as part of my uniform.

The shoes look smart and professional, and I like the good grip on the base, helping to prevent slips. The laces are easy to re-thread in order to get a comfortable fit, and the leather outer is soft and flexible.

The most noticeable thing about these shoes comes when you put them on. The contoured footbed feels a little strange to start with – the arched contour feels prominent, as though you are standing on something. This is because of the Biomedical Footbed Technology, designed to support your feet in their natural, barefoot position. However, if you are used to wearing less supportive shoes, this sensation may feel unusual.

Strive recommend wearing your new shoes in slowly, over several days, to allow your feet to adjust. I wore my shoes at home to begin with, wearing them for 1-2 hours before taking them off. My feet soon seemed to adjust, and within a week, my old shoes felt odd – as though there was no support on the arch of my feet. By the end of the first week I was wearing the Weston shoes for a full shift at work, and after 12 hours on my feet, I was pleasantly surprised to discover no blisters, no rubbing and most importantly of all – no aching feet or legs!

I will definitely be investing in another pair of Strive shoes to wear as everyday footwear – I have been eyeing up the Roxby boots, which look perfect for this time of year!

I love the idea of shoes that support your foot so that it feels like your feet are bare. They sound like a great shoe if you are in a job where you need to stand for long periods. I’m going to check out the other shoes in their range.

These sound great if your on your feet for long periods of time, I’m not sure I would get much use from them but they would be ideal for someone working in a physical job where they are stood up all day! 🙂

I’m quite excited about these. With my condition I cannot feel the soles of my feet which is one of the reasons why I can’t walk properly. Maybe with the extra support my feet my stay in position better. (At the moment they tend to twist onto the side so when I put shoes on I feel like I’m falling over.) Even if they do help it would be nice to find shoes that don’t give me blisters. I will take a look.

Nothing is better than the feeling of stepping into good supported shoes. Sometimes I wear shoes and I try on new ones and you feel such a difference in your feet. It’s hard to explain. These look really comfy. #triedtested

These sound like my sort of shoes! I remember from my waitressing days just how important it is to wear comfortable shoes. I can’t wear heels at all now, god I sound old! #TriedTested
