Mega Bloks review and giveaway

We love Mega Bloks, we do. I have a First Builders Build ‘n’ Learn table stashed away for Max’s Christmas present, and they were always a popular toy when Gemma and Jacob were small too.

We were recently sent some of the new Mega Bloks range to review, and I have to say that it has been a hit with all 3 children!

First Builders big building bag (60 piece) £14.21, available at Argos

Mega Bloks First Builders review

This starter pack of 60 bricks is ideal for introducing Mega Bloks into your home, or for extending a current collection. The bright, primary coloured bricks encourage imaginative play, hand-eye co-ordination and sharing. Although designed to be the perfect size for little hands, they also work just as well in the hands of a bigger child!

I love how all the children have worked together with these to make all sorts of creations – towers, houses, trophies and cars, and they have also been used to help teach Max his basic colours. The play possibilities with this set are endless.

Thomas Learning Train £12.99

Thomas is a hit with most little ones – I know both Gemma and Jacob loved the little blue steam train, and I am sure Max will too. The Mega Bloks Thomas Learning Train combines all the building Mega Bloks fun with the well loved character to create a lovely little set – idea for *whispers* Christmas?

The set comes with stickers which you attach to the blocks – this might be a job for the adult as they can be a bit fiddly. There is a crane which can be used to life the Mega Bloks onto the carriages. I love the subtle number and colour recognition idea behind this toy. Again, there are heaps of learning possibilities – this Thomas set can be teamed up with other play sets or used on its own, and you could add more blocks, toy people and cars/trains to create some great small world play.

Mega Bloks Thomas Learning Train

All in all, Mega Bloks didn’t disappoint. They are one of my all time favourite toys for imaginative shared play, and we will continue to use them for many years to come.
