Whether it’s watching England play football on the big screen with your friends, piling on to the sofa with the whole family to watch your favourite movies, or collapsing at the end of the day to watch those TV shows you recorded months ago but still haven’t got round to watching, having a comfy sofa to relax on is essential to the home!
Our sofa could be described as well loved – it gets used for something for a good portion of every day. Max lies flat on it to watch Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig, before taking all the cushions off to make a tower or a castle. Eliza joins in with this, and uses the sofa as a support for standing up and taking those first wobbly steps. Gemma and Jacob use it for everything from a place to watch TV to a safe spot to avoid the boiling lake of lava they are imagining on the floor. Kevin watches football from the sofa, shouting at the referee and cheering on England in the Euros. I use it as a comfortable space to blog, to write and research my college essays and to read a book at the end of a long day.
However, my favourite ever #SofaMoment is a very special family one – the day we came home from hospital with a newborn baby Eliza, and introduced her to her sister and brothers. Nothing else will ever compare to that.

My #SofaMoment is on a friday night where I can put my pj’s on and cuddle up to my boyfriend with a takeaway and catch up on some of the series we watch.
#sofamoment was having the chance to hold my new born nephew. on my brand new sofa and he was the first one to christen it with wee! 🙂
My #SofaMoment is chilling with the cat watching football
Many years ago we adopted our first “fur baby” from Cats Protection. On the day he arrived he quickly jumped up to the living room window, had a quick look around, and then hopped down onto our DFS sofa where he immediately curled up and fell asleep! It was as though he had always lived here. This little guy – who we later called Curly, is now 15 years old and still loves his sofa snoozes with lots of cuddles and extra rubs xx #SofaMoment
My #SofaMoment is sitting next to my husband holding my daughter when we first brought her home. We were so overwhelmed with responsibility, yet overjoyed. And it was our 2nd anniversary, too.
Sitting on our first ‘bought together’ ‘big commitment’ sofa, with our first ‘made together’ ‘slightly bigger commitment’ baby 🙂 I have to say I was more nervous about buying a sofa together than having a baby – but the sofa came first and must have cemented it ! In those first weeks there was a lot of sitting proudly with our new bundle but that first day with her, has got to be our most special #sofamoment 🙂
An old friend my sofa has been through the years,
as I fed my baby son and mopped up his tears.
Cuddles in the night when he’s had a bad dream,
watching funny movies and eating ice-cream.
Our #sofamoments have seen lots of laughter
making dens with friends who sleep over after.
When tackling homework we’ve had a welcoming seat,
and at the end of a long day I have rested my feet.
Now a big,tall teenager-depending on mood,
he listens to music or munches on food.
On our sofa he knows he can always come for a cuddle,
whenever he’s down or feels in a muddle.
The cushions are worn and have seen better days
it sags in the middle and round the edges it frays-
Our sofa has seen lots of memories made,
and unlike the fabric they never will fade.
#MysofaMoment is nowadays alone with a good book in hand and a stash of chocolate nearby.
