Build-A-Bear Workshop is celebrating National Teddy Bear Day this year with a limited edition teddy bear — available for only £5 and only in stores on the 9th September!
With 4 children in the house, teddy bears have been a feature for may years now. When Gemma was born we visited Build-A-Bear and chose her an elephant toy. A few years later when we expecting Jacob, we took Gemma with us to Build-A-Bear and she chose the toy for her new baby brother – a tiger. The theme continued with every child we had, and now all the children have a teddy toy on their beds every night. We have heaps of wooden, plastic and noisy play toys, but the bears are well loved, they are the ones the kids sleep with, the ones they choose to take with them if they ever stay away from home. You can’t cuddle a tractor!
We often have Teddy Bear picnics – especially in the summer holidays. It’s a lovely way to get some fresh air, enjoy eating outside and get the kids to try new foods – if Teddy loves something then the kids might give it a go too 😉
You can celebrate National Teddy Bear Day by visiting a Build-A-Bear store on the 9th September and grabbing your limited edition teddy. Two additional bears will also be available for £5 each: Lil’ Vanilla Bean Cub and Lil’ Hazelnut Cub. You can purchase a maximum of 5 £5 bears, while supplies last. For every £5 bear purchased in stores on National Teddy Bear Day, Build-A- Bear Workshop will donate one furry friend to Childhood First in the UK. To find the store closest to you, visit the Build-A-Bear store locator.
Join the celebrations online by following @BuildABear on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and share your favourite teddy bear and Build-A- Bear Workshop memories using #NationalTeddyBearDay all week long!
Family Fever are also celebrating National Teddy Bear Day with a giveaway – one lucky reader will receive a £100 Build-A-Bear gift voucher – just imagine how many lovely teddy friends you could buy with that!

my mum had handmade me this weird looking bear whilst she was pregnant – it had square eyes but i loved it! I still have it hidden away somewhere.
I had a homemade piggy which is now holey and very very old.
I had a favourite teddy, he was so old and raggy, I took him to school for show and tell and lost him and I’m still upset about it to this day as I know I’d still have him otherwise.
I had (and still have!) Robbie the Rabbit. He was white a slightly fluffy with a blue and white stripey jump suit
I didn’t have a favourite bear when I was young but I loved Rosie and Jim and had a doll of them
I had a huge teddy that was nearly as big as me!
Yes, I got a teddy when I was very young and still have it today

Yes, it was white and so so fluffy. I took it everywhere with me!
My old pink and white bear = no name
BOB with 1 eye, he was scuffy!
I had Bonny the Bunny.was so battered in the end that she had a hole in the top of her head!
Duckie – a small fuzzy yellow duck with an orange beak.
I was never a teddy fan, loved dolls though 🙂
I didn’t have a teddy but I did have a Golliwog called Mr George who went everywhere with me
I still have my bear. His name is Tommy and he sits next to my bed on my cabinet. I’d cry if I lost him!!
Yes I did! I had a little Ted (play School) I sadly lost him on a trip to Blackpool, I was devastated. Still carry the scars to this day.
Mine was originally called Ted, still got him! He’s looking a bit ragged…
