Build-A-Bear Workshop is celebrating National Teddy Bear Day this year with a limited edition teddy bear — available for only £5 and only in stores on the 9th September!
With 4 children in the house, teddy bears have been a feature for may years now. When Gemma was born we visited Build-A-Bear and chose her an elephant toy. A few years later when we expecting Jacob, we took Gemma with us to Build-A-Bear and she chose the toy for her new baby brother – a tiger. The theme continued with every child we had, and now all the children have a teddy toy on their beds every night. We have heaps of wooden, plastic and noisy play toys, but the bears are well loved, they are the ones the kids sleep with, the ones they choose to take with them if they ever stay away from home. You can’t cuddle a tractor!
We often have Teddy Bear picnics – especially in the summer holidays. It’s a lovely way to get some fresh air, enjoy eating outside and get the kids to try new foods – if Teddy loves something then the kids might give it a go too 😉
You can celebrate National Teddy Bear Day by visiting a Build-A-Bear store on the 9th September and grabbing your limited edition teddy. Two additional bears will also be available for £5 each: Lil’ Vanilla Bean Cub and Lil’ Hazelnut Cub. You can purchase a maximum of 5 £5 bears, while supplies last. For every £5 bear purchased in stores on National Teddy Bear Day, Build-A- Bear Workshop will donate one furry friend to Childhood First in the UK. To find the store closest to you, visit the Build-A-Bear store locator.
Join the celebrations online by following @BuildABear on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and share your favourite teddy bear and Build-A- Bear Workshop memories using #NationalTeddyBearDay all week long!
Family Fever are also celebrating National Teddy Bear Day with a giveaway – one lucky reader will receive a £100 Build-A-Bear gift voucher – just imagine how many lovely teddy friends you could buy with that!

No I had a doll I took everywhere with me instead however my children love teddies.
Yes, Bobby Bear. He was blue and had a t-shirt saying Bobby Bear on it.
My favourite was a weird polar bear my dad bought me on his travels with work!
I still have my favourite teddy from when I was little, my dad bought it for me, it has a tartan bow and tartan paw pads. It now belongs to my 5 year old son, he adores it but I know he would absolutely love to have his own build a bear! Thanks for the chance xo
I had Velveteen Rabbit that I carried with me everywhere. My mom packed us up in the middle of night and left my dad and I had to leave everything I owned behind including my rabbit. Over the years I ended buying back some of toys I had to leave behind but I have never found a rabbit like him. Some people don’t understand what a toy can mean to someone.
My first teddy (rabbit actually) is called Swiss Roll. He got his name as my Uncle bought him for me from Switzerland. He wears a lovely pair of brown dungarees. I still have him now (33 years later!) but he now sleeps at the end of my 4 year old daughters bed.
I didn’t have a teddy I had a chicaboo (monkey that sucked it’s thumb – like me). I loved it.
ive had snoweor 28 years. H is a white bear with a bell inside.
I had a large grey bear called Fred that my grandma got me when I was born, it was my favorite most loved teddy bear and it now belongs to my 4 year old daughter 🙂
I had a big bear bought by my grandparents when I was born and now belongs to my daughter, he looks just as good a s the day he was bought but my has he traveled and had a lot of hugs to put up with 🙂
No I had a soft blankie I took everywhere with me to cuddle
I didn’t have a favourite teddy bear but loved my cabbage patch doll.
I had the most enormous bear I (very imaginatively…) named Big Bear. I got him for Christmas one year when I was about four and he was as big as me!
I had a pink teddy that made a crying noise when it was rocked.
It’s odd but I don’t remember any teddies at all. I had plenty of toys but for some reason I don’t recall any teddies.
I had a very small jointed teddy bear about 3 inches high, it went everywhere until i was about 7. he was called Mr Ted Ted.
I had a yellow bear that I have passed down to my children 🙂
I had a little dog which came everywhere with me until his stuffing fell out!!
My favourite was a big Paddington Bear which my parents brought me which I have still got xxx
Still have a koala bear my uncle bought me over fifty years ago – never seen another one like it x
