So you’ve booked a city break to a European destination, chances are you’re going for a little longer than a weekend, and packing for that amount of time can be quite tricky. If you’re anything like us then we know you’ll be wanting to take your entire wardrobe with you, but unfortunately the limits on hand luggage only flights restrict this a little. Here, Parisian run through their key items to take on a winter city break.

It can be difficult to pack a lot of thick knits and big coats in to a small suitcase, so the key to surviving the colder temperatures that many European cities are faced with is learning how to layer up, and packing smart.

For Warmth…

Obviously, a big coat is a necessity, but this can be worn on the plane to save space in your suitcase! Our favourites this season are the padded puffer jackets, or even a fur lined parka, both are sure to keep you warm when there’s a chill in the air, whilst making sure your overall look is a cool and chic one.

Ankle Boots

You should look to protect your feet from the elements, and ankle boots are the perfect way to do this. Invest in a pair of thick socks that will fit nicely into your boots; chances are, you’ll be spending a lot of time on your feet whilst you’re away, and the last thing you want is an uncomfortable pair of shoes or ones that do not protect you from the elements.

Accessories

Accessories are the one item that can often make or break an outfit. One or two statement necklaces will help you to take an outfit from day to night time quite easily, making your look that little bit more special for an evening meal or some drinks at a bar.

Another must have accessory for your winter city break is a scarf, preferably an oversized one; we’re absolutely loving ASOS’s range at the moment, whether it’s a plain style, a checked or one that will give your outfit a pop of colour, a scarf will give you that added warmth that you will certainly need.

Don’t forget a bobble hat, you’ll thank us when you’re feeling the cold on your ears!

How To Pack It All

Whether you’re a roller or a folder, there is a way to fit everything you need into a hand luggage suitcase for your winter city break! What it really comes down to is understanding that you don’t need to take everything with you, just a few key items that can be switched up to create different looks for different needs.

Depending on how long you’re going for, we would recommend two outfits a day, but a lot of the time this just means a change of top or bottom to switch up an outfit to change if for different occasions, so don’t panic too much about trying to pack everything!
