Once your child starts nursery or school, head lice are almost inevitable at some stage. Although there are many different treatments on the market now, we have always found them to be a real pain – usually they are shampoos that have to be left on for a certain amount of time before being washed out. Quite frankly, some of the treatments stick to high heaven, and washing them out is like removing creosote. The chemicals stop normal shampoo from lathering up, meaning you can wash the hair over and over and over and still end up with a child who wakes up in the morning with their hair plastered to their head in a greasy, smelly mop.
We were recently sent some Hedrin Treat & Go – a new, no-fuss way to get rid of head lice and eggs. I was dubious at first – this is a spray that you apply to the hair, blow dry, and then leave over night, or all day. But actually? We were pleasantly surprised. The spray doesn’t have a chemically smell – in fact, it doesn’t really smell at all, especially after blow drying. The instructions tell you to rinse before washing out, and although it takes a couple of rinses, it does come out quite well, allowing you to add shampoo and lather up the hair afterwards.
Obviously, the ideal situation would be no head lice at all, and Hedrin Protect & Go Spray claims to help here. Simply apply to damp or dry hair, comb through and leave. Used regularly, at least twice a week, this conditioning spray works by killing lice before they can take hold. It left the kids hair really soft and silky, and since using it we have not had head lice in the house. Yes, it’s not the cheapest product out there, but if a couple of sprays a week can help keep head lice at bay, it could save a fortune on treatments!
If you fancy trying Hedrin for yourself, I have a giveaway for you. 2 people will each win a bundle containing a bottle of Hedrin Once treatment, and a bottle of Hedrin Protect & Go Spray.
Terms and conditions. Open to UK residents, giveaway ends 3/6/17. Winners will be randomly selected from all correctly completed entries and contacted by email. Winners should claim their prizes within 10 days or they may be redrawn. Prizes supplied directly from Hedrin.
I’m dreading my son getting nits and I can’t help keep checking his hair. I can still remember the trauma of having nits when I was a kid, I swear I can still smell the shampoo. This looks like a much better option. #TriedTested

I’d love to win for my daughter so we already have some in the house for when the inevitable happens xxx
Little one has just started nursery so will be very handy to have
This solution sounds good and relatively stress free. My mummy isn’t looking forward to when I start school as it’s going to be like ping pong with headlice. We will keep this in mind next time we visit the shops x sorry for the late comment my mummy has been holed up in hospital x #TriedTested x
I’d like to win because a spray is easier & every other week i’m getting messages or letters about a breakout in my daughters class
We’ve used the Hedrin Once treatment before and it’s great but not tried the Protect & Go spray. Anything that can help prevent the kids getting headlice gets a thumbs up from me. #TriedTested
Would like to try this one on the kids in case they get it
For the grandchildren, better to be safe than sorry
Thankfully we have survived nearly 2 years of school without meeting these little critters. I’ll remember this for if we do #TriedTested

I’d love to try this with my eldest, especially the spray and go because I dread having to deal with head lice on her curly hair so would rather prevent it!

Id love to win as we’re always getting little visitors! It drives me nuts!!
I have four girls with long hair – this would come in very handy!
I would love to win one of these as I have 3 girls and battling with headlice is an ongoing problem, I normally use conditioner but would like to try this .x
Keep getting letter from schools saying a child in class as visitors so this would be brilliant
My kids have had headlice about 4 times this year, they get a letter from school saying “headlice are going around” almost every week! It would certainly come in handy.
