How to Make Your Stay-at-Home Dates More Romantic

Autumn is well and truly underway. The weather’s turning chiller and staying in seems more appealing than going out.

If you’re planning some quality time with your partner and want to make being tucked away at home just as romantic as any other type of date night, here are some ideas to create the ultimate indoor experience.

Set the atmosphere

Creating a cosy atmosphere is the perfect way to make your evening romantic. This will create a bubble that’s just for the two of you.

Start with the lighting. It’s possible to totally transform the space with ambient lighting options. Fairy lights and battery-operated LED candles can create a glow that’s perfect for an intimate evening. Scented candles can also add soft lighting and infuse the room with a beautiful fragrance.

Next, focus on making the space comfortable. Add throws, blankets, pillows and cushions to make the living room feel inviting.

Cook a special meal together

You might want to order a takeaway. If you live in an area that has good access to restaurant-quality takeout, this could be the perfect opportunity to splash out on fine dining direct to your door.

But if you want to try something a little different, why not cook a meal together from scratch? This can be a lovely activity to do as part of your date night. You could choose a recipe you both enjoy or be adventurous and try something new. Preparing a meal as a team gives you the chance to bond, plus you’ll get a sense of accomplishment when you get to tuck in.

Plan an indoor camp night

Bring all the magic of camping beneath the stars to your living room by setting up a fort in your living room. You could set out snacks on a blanket and even introduce classics like marshmallows.

You could even tell ghost stories or simply catch up over hot cocoa. This is a lovely, quirky way to spend some quality time together.

Go to the movies

Cuddle up in your pillows, grab some popcorn and watch your favourite films. You could be nostalgic opt for films you went to see together on previous dates or stream a movie you’ve both wanted to watch for a while.

Plan out your snacks for this too. As well as popcorn, you could set out some crisps and dips, as well as other nibbles. Perhaps you might want to share a bottle of wine while you watch or stick to soft drinks. Take the time to work out what you’ll both like to eat before you hit play on your movie and be sure to have everything within reach so you can stay cosy on the sofa.

Have a games night or get crafty

If you both prefer something a little more active, you could play a board game or some type of quiz. Should love being creative, a relaxing activity like painting could be the perfect date night activity.

These more dynamic activities are a great way to unwind while doing something fun together.
