I know it’s something every parent says on a regular basis, but doesn’t time just fly? I think back to a few years ago, when I started this blog, and Max was still a baby in my belly. Gemma and Jacob were still small, and Eliza wasn’t even a thought in our minds at that time.
And now, all of a sudden, I look at them all and I don’t know where the time has gone. Gemma is off to high school in September – HIGH SCHOOL! Jacob will be moving into year 5, Max will be starting school for the very first time, and Eliza is almost 2. It seems impossible, it really does.
So, yeah. Time flies.
I love this video from Thomas and Friends. It just sums up how quickly time passes, and how before you know it, you will be in a totally different stage of life. It makes you think about your families and friendships too. Over the years there are many friends that come and go – through no fault of their own, but some we just grow apart from. They were the best friend we could have had for that time in our lives, but then they move on, we move on, and a different stage of our lives begins. Some friends, however, have been there from the start, and you just know they will be there at the end. They become more like family, they play a huge part in your children’s lives, and you never have to question them being there.
Those are the friends that change your life just by being there.
I can see Gemma and Jacob making friends now, and I find myself wondering which of those will still be there for them in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years time. As a parent, it is fascinating to watch your children develop these relationships, and find their place in the world.
Time flies. Cherish it.
Time certainly does fly, my children are all grown now, my middle son even has three children of his own how did that happen and how can I be old enough!
