Daisy Roots baby shoes review and giveaway

As a general rule, I am not a fan of baby shoes. To me, shoes are for walkers, and prior to that stage, little feet should be free to wriggle and grow.
I still stand by this as a general rule, but there are occasions when I feel shoes are necessary for Max now. As a very inquisitive and adept cruiser, he does need something to help him grip on slippery floors – socks and sleepsuits are just too slippy. It is also sometimes nice to have a little pair of shoes to pop on when it’s a bit chilly outside and we are heading out in the pushchair.
So – sometimes shoes are OK. Having said that, I want a shoe that allows Max’s little toes to move, flex and grow with no restrictions. That’s where Daisy Roots have come in. Designed with the input of podiatrists, members of the Growth Foundation, health care workers and mums and the aim to be as close to bare feet as possible, I was fairly confident that these little shoes would be perfect for Max.

I received the Union Jack shoes in navy, white and blue – perfect for any little boy (or girl for that matter). 
The first thing that struck me – apart from the cuteness – was how soft they are. I expected a more structured shoe, but I was pleased that these shoes are just pure, soft chrome-free leather. They bend, they flex and they move with little feet – they will not restrict growth or movement. 
They slide on easily – there is hidden elastic around the ankle section which makes them easy to put on even the wriggliest baby. Once on, Max was unable to pull them off, which is a huge bonus, especially when you are out in the pushchair!

The Daisy Roots shoes have been ideal for around the house too. Max loves to cruise around my kitchen cupboards, but we have had a few slips because socks and sleepsuits have no grip, and it’s too cold on the floor for bare feet. He can cruise much more happily in the shoes as they have a bit of grip to them – not loads, but enough to keep him steady. I don’t think it will be long before he is off on his own two feet.
