Toyologist review – The Game of Life Fame Edition

I was very pleased to receive an email recently asking me to be an official Toys R Us Toyolgist.

I was sent The Game of Life – Fame edition to try out. I remember playing the original Game of Life as a child – it was always a family favourite, great for Christmas, winter evenings and family get togethers. The new Fame edition offers a few new and improved ‘celebrity’ options, such as being able to choose a career as a supermodel, pop singer or movie star. You can wind your way along the path of fame in your stretch limo, spending your hard earned cash wisely (or not) to try and be the winner in the big old game of life!
The game is easy to set up – just pop the pieces together, add the spinner in the middle and choose your limo.
There are action cards along the way, which are great for getting everyone up and involved. Sing the national anthem, make up funny nicknames and add bodyguards, stylists and more to your limo to help you on your way.

The game is sold as 8+, and I think that’s fair to be honest – Jacob is 6 and although he enjoyed joining in with the action cards and helping me to spend money (and helping me to lose!) he didn’t really understand the concept of the game. Gemma is 8 and was much more clued up – she was able to play the game with a little bit of help from a parent.

The children’s favourite bit of the game by far is the spinner. It makes a great change from a dice and is a real throwback to the original game – it’s really nice to see some of the features retained.
Overall? A great fun family game perfect for getting everyone involved. Thumbs up from all of us – this will be a family favourite for years to come.

The original was always my favourite as a child, I didn’t know it was even still available let alone a revamped version 🙂
