A recent survey carried out by Always Discreet has found that a massive 1 in 3 women over the age of 18 in the UK suffer from sensitive bladder – that’s almost 12 million women. The condition has a huge impact on women’s lives, with over half of sufferers struggling with depression. The most worrying statistic, however, is that so few women ever talk about it. This means they are suffering in silence – refusing to speak to their GP, partner or friends.
So it’s certainly something we should be talking about more. Chances are either you or someone you know is suffering, and there is no reason at all that this should be a taboo topic. A problem shared is a problem halved, so pick up the phone and contact your GP, open up to a friend or support someone else who needs it. Just opening up will encourage more women to do the same – and that can only be a good thing.

I think I’m lucky that my bladder is pretty much ok after having two children. Could be so much worse! x
I can’t say it’s something I’ve suffered but I know friends who do x
