Week 3 of the summer holidays (and days 222 -228 of project 365) and I am trying hard to keep it interesting for the kids. We have done a few different things this week, as well as the usual parks, crafts and garden play.
Day 222, Sunday. This is never the kids favourite day of the week as it usually involves some food shopping (needs must), but they did enjoy helping me make a bolognese, stirring the sauce and chopping the veg. And eating it of course.
Day 223, Monday. I took the children swimming today – no pics of that as you can’t take cameras into the pool, but the kids loved it as usual. We came home and the children all played together in the garden.
Day 224, Tuesday. Today Max’s nursery were holding their annual summer fete, so we went along and enjoyed the tombola (although Jacob wasn’t too pleased about winning a make up set!), bouncy castle, balloon modelling and stalls that were on offer. I stocked up on a few Christmas presents, the children ate cake and we watched the balloons being released for the balloon race. A lovely afternoon out.
Day 225, Wednesday. Gemma and Jacob spent the day at a local football roadshow day run by a sports development club. They go a few times during the summer holidays, and some half terms too. It’s a lovely fun day full of football skills, fun games and socialising, and both of them love it – even though Gemma is nearly always the only girl there.
Day 226, Thursday. It rained today, so we donned wellies and rain coats and went for a wet walk. There were plenty of puddles to jump in, and Max could join in too – his new wellies arrived yesterday. Perfect timing!
Day 227, Friday. Another wet day, so we headed for the library where the children chose 6 books each for the summer reading challenge. They happily whiled away a few hours this afternoon reading each other jokes.
Day 228, Saturday. The sun came out early, so the children have been helping to plant a few summer flowers. We couldn’t use this pot though – Freddie was in it!

I LOVE Max’s face eating the bolognese – cute!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one thinking about Christmas. I keep telling hubby that we need to start stocking up and he looks at me like I’m mental!
Good on Gemma for doing the football club, I used to play to and was always one of very few girls at these day camp things – I never cared either!
Love the kitty-cat picture too, I find our cat resting in the funniest places too. x
