Since we found out we were expecting our fourth child, shared parental leave seems to have been in the news a lot. It is something that won’t really apply to us this time, as I work from home, but we would DEFINITELY have taken it up when our eldest 2 children were born.
I personally think it’s a really good idea. It isn’t always practical, on a financial or emotional level, for the mum to take 12 months off of work. Not only that, but it’s invaluable that dads get to spend some time with the baby too – especially in those early months when a lot of the bonding happens.
