Hot chocolate with a twist

Today I have a guest post thanks to the lovely Chantelle from Mama Mummy Mum. I am loving the sound of this hot chocolate with a twist and will definitely be giving it a whirl – will you?

Since being on a diet I can’t seem to stop craving chocolate and one thing that a lot of people recommended to me was having a hot chocolate in the evening instead. You know you can get the low calorie ones like Options.

Now if you’ve read my blog before you’ll know that I like to come up with my own recipes so I’ve had a tinker and devised a couple of my own hot chocolate recipes that can actually be good for you, well I’ve heard the news say that dark chocolate can be good for you so who am I to disagree 😉

For my first idea you will need just two ingredients :

  • mug of coconut milk (obviously depends on your mug size)
  • 2 squares of dark chocolate

Simply heat up the milk over the hob until it starts to boil and then drop in the dark chocolate, turn down to simmering and stir until the chocolate has melted.

What you get is a delicious cup of hot chocolate that tastes like a bounty bar, a bit like heaven in a cup mmmmm.

My second idea needs one extra ingredient :

  • mug of almond milk
  • 2 squares of dark chocolate
  • 2 tsp of peanut hottie

Like before heat the milk on the hob then add the dark chocolate and peanut hottie, keep stirring until melted.

Now anyone who loves peanut butter ( I may be a tad addicted) will really enjoy this one. Sort of like a melted down Reeses peanut butter cup.

You can of course double/triple the amount of ingredients if you plan on making it for more than one person. Why not experiment and see what flavours you can come up with.

I love the Peanut Hottie idea. I get a bit bored with it and hadn’t thought of doing this. I’m a massive hot chocolate fan, so sounds delicious.
