Top 3 teething products & win a Gummee Glove

Teething. It is not always a fun time for either babies or parents. These poor little ones don’t understand why they are in pain, why they suddenly feel uncomfortable sensations in their mouth, and why you aren’t making them go away! As parents, we find it hard too – not being able to help them, not being able to explain the reason for the discomfort and suddenly experiencing more night time wakings again!

There are products that can help though, and Eliza has been putting some of these to the test. Here are our top 3 teething must haves, and why we love them.

  1. Amber. We have used amber anklets for a few years now, and they have been a real help to Max, both with teething and with controlling the symptoms of eczema. Love Amber offer amber anklets, necklaces and teething jewellery for both children and adults. We have been using a baltic amber anklet for a few weeks now, and I have to say – I love it. As I mentioned before, we are already amber fans, and using this anklet on Eliza has only reinforced how much I believe in the soothing and healing powers of these products. 100% natural and drug free, it is a great and gentle alternative to medicines and gels. We have found that amber reduces many of the teething symptoms such as drooling, swollen gums, discomfort and red cheeks. I am not going to pretend that it takes away all the pain associated with teething, but it certainly helps make it less of an issue.

2. Dribble bibs. No matter what you do, and what remedies you try to help ease teething problems, there will always be some dribble. This can cause clothes to become damp, and this in turn causes skin irritation and rashes which can be uncomfortable and itchy. To prevent this we use a lot of dribble bibs, and my current favourites are the Funky Giraffe bibs. There are so many different designs to choose from, and we have found them to be such a great fit, while still being highly adjustable – one sized bib will fit both Max and Eliza. They are made from super soft cotton, and backed with fleece which stops the dribble from soaking through onto clothing. They also double up as a great weaning bib, as they wash and dry really well. As well as that, the designs are bright and funky, and there is something to suit any outfit!

3. Gummee Glove. This is a product that is relatively new to us, and not something we got a chance to try with Max. But I wish we had. Now, we all know that when babies are teething, they constantly put their hands in their mouths, chewing for relief. However, this can make their hands wet and sore, but the Gummee Glove solves that problem. A soft mitten that slides over your baby’s hand, it has colourful, biteable tabs and a silicone teething ring, which can also be detached. We like to pop this in the fridge for a little while before giving the Gummee Glove to Eliza – it is extra soothing to sore gums. The Gummee Glove is ideal for smaller babies who cannot hold their own teething toy yet, and can be secured onto the hand with velcro, making it perfect for using when out and about too. I know we will be using this for many months to come, and I recommend it to all my friends with young babies.

What a great idea! Chilled teething rings and frozen fruit in mesh bags are good – even if its just to cool their tempers down a little 😉

Great post, I’d almost forgotten about the joys of teething as A has all his teeth now and hasn’t really suffered in a while! We had a gummee glove which he loved and bibs become your best friend, so much dribble!! #triedtested
