We spend a lot of time outdoors with the children – walking the dog, visiting the beach and playing in the garden. As the weather gets less summery, and we head into the damper and cooler autumn months, good boots are an essential.
Wellies are great for this time of year, and obviously perfect for puddle jumping, but we find that the children often struggle to walk far in them. They aren’t ideal for walking really – the height restricts their movement slightly and they often rub after a long walk. So, instead, the kids have been trying out the Muck Boots Muckster II.
This all purpose ankle boot is a great alternative to wellies. They are lightweight, and made from breathable neoprene, which makes them hardwearing and able to stand up to mud, rain and anything else you can throw at them!
There is a tab at the back which makes them easy to pull on, and the material has plenty of give in it for comfort, while the lining is both waterproof and soft. The boots sit just above the ankle bone, meaning the children can run, jump and splash in comfort. They have been wearing the boots very regularly for several weeks now, and there has been no rubbing or discomfort.
The bottom of the boots has an outsole pattern, which holds onto the dirt, so it doesn’t get brought into the house if the children forget to remove their boots after a muddy walk! It’s also made from a high traction rubber, which means the boots have a fantastic grip, even when worn in wet conditions.
The Muckster II boot is available in black, purple, pink or green/navy, so there is something to suit everyone, and they are priced at a very reasonable £44.
Over the years, we have tried a variety of different boots for the children, but none have come close to the comfort, durability and all round value of the Muck Boots Muckster II. We will be investing in a pair for Eliza as soon as she is big enough, and both myself and Kevin are considering the adults Muckster ankle boots for the winter.
I love how these aren’t as tall as proper wellies, great for just ‘mucking’ around in! x

Muck boots are the best. Clio reviewed a pair years ago and I swear they grew with her, the only boots she has actually grown out of instead of just ruining. Love your outdoor pictures testing them, some great moments there. #TriedTested
These look fab . Unlike most wellies it looks like
They will actually be able to walk in them #triedntested

You’re so right about not being able to walk too far in wellies as they aren’t really built for comfort, so these look great.

They sound fantastic – I often find that the kids’ wellies seem to slop around the calves, as you say this often causes them to rub or just not be very flexible. I love how comfortable these sound.

I really like these as although Mia has welly boots, I find them really awkward for her to move around in so these look a lot better. They look easier to walk in and perfect for different situations! The price would be a bit steep but if they do the job, I would be happy to get Mia a pair! 🙂

These look great! My daughter complains about ordinary wellies rubbing the back of her legs, these would solve that problem!

I haven’t seen these before, they look great for the winter months. My girls really struggle to walk in wellies and these look a perfect alternative x

I love how these are low cut! They look very comfortable and would be perfect for playing in. Standard wellies are usually quite stiff and will bend and dig in if my toddler bends down so I really like these.

I actually have a pair of muck boots myself! They are equestrian style so really lovely to wear out on a walk for someone who may be fashion conscious. I got them last winter and it made winter a lot more tolerable for me as someone with Raynauds. Great for kids I imagine with keeping their toes much warmer, being more comfortable than wellies will surely mean happy to walk further too! They look lovely! Now if only their feet didn’t grow so quick….

What a great idea to have shorter boots! Makes it easier with all in one suits for kids too! Love the design and style of these Muck Boots….could do with a pair myself 😉 Thanks for hosting #triedtested
These are such a great idea! Especially as it’s a nightmare to get little feet into big wellies quite often!
