We are HUGE fans of the WOW Toys range. Designed to be open ended toys, they require no batteries, relying on friction to power their range of vehicles. I love how much they encourage independent, imaginative play, and how well made they are – the quality is second to none.
The latest addition to our WOW Toys collection is Sam the Steam Train.
Aimed at children from 18 months – 5 years, Sam the Steam Train has a motorised engine with whistle sounds which are activated by pushing down on the chimney. There is also a detachable passenger carriage included, on which you can open the side and roof to allow the figures to be taken in and out easily. The carriage has little tables and chairs for the passengers.
Sam the Steam Train is super lightweight, making him easy to drive around the floor, or lift and move. Everything is chunky, well made and the perfect size for toddlers and pre-schoolers. The figures can even be popped into the dishwasher, which is a real bonus when you have lots of sticky fingers in the house!
Because there are no set ‘play modes’, everything is very open ended. This means that WOW Toys can be incorporated into any games or scenarios – our Sam the Steam Train has been used to transport cargo, collect rubbish, help build a tunnel for cars and chase off a Gruffalo!
This is a great addition to the WOW Toys range – we have said previously that the range was lacking a train, so I was really pleased to see this is now offered. There are all sorts of vehicles and figures available from the WOW Toys website, as well as an advent calendar which was very popular with Max last year!
If you would like the chance to have a WOW Toys Sam the Steam Train for yourself, then you can enter my giveaway below – good luck!

I love the idea of a train that can move without needing batteries. It’s great that you can mix and match it with other toys too.
