Last week was a huge week for us. On Tuesday, Gemma started a massive new adventure at secondary school. It was a bit of a strange morning to be honest. I’m so used to dropping her off at school, but on Tuesday she walked to school on her own, in her brand new uniform.
I’m still not totally sure how I feel about her being at high school! It only seems like 5 minutes ago I was plaiting her little pigtails for her first day at primary, and now she’s all independent and grown up! She came home from her first day absolutely full of it, and this has continued all this week, and we’ve loved listening to all her tales of what she’s been up to and the clubs she wants to join. She was definitely ready for this next step!
The day after Gemma started high school, Max went off for his first ever day at school! Again, he was so looking forward to it, and couldn’t wait to get his uniform on after breakfast. We absolutely adore these first day at school prints from Freddie and Co – aren’t they just an amazing keepsake for such a special occasion? They have some great Back to School packs, whether you have a little one starting primary school or heading into a new year, as well as custom options, so you can tailor things to suit you.
Max has had a fantastic first week. On his first day, he ran off into his classroom without a backwards glance, and this has continued all week. On his second day he stayed for lunch with his friends – I was fairly confident he would be OK with this as he has always stayed for lunch at nursery. On day 3 he stayed all day – I wasn’t sure how this would go but I needn’t have worried – he absolutely loved it. He woke up this morning, came running into my room and shouted ‘Only one more sleep until I can go back to school!’ I think it’s safe to say he has really enjoyed his school experience so far – long may it continue!
Have you had a little one starting school this week, or heading off for a new adventure at secondary or a new school? I’d love to hear how it all went!
What a week you have had…They both look so smart in their uniforms. It sounds like Max has taken to school like a duck to water. I hope it continues x

Your children look very smart in their new school uniforms, it is many years since I did the school run, I worked as a registered child minder, so have collected a lot of children from a lot of different schools!
What a week of firsts for you! I would be the same about secondary school, she looks very grown up and smart in her uniform and not having to take her yourself. I’m not ready for that! x #theordinarymoments
Those are amazing little keepsakes and oh how time flies, high school seems like such a big step but brilliant that she is enjoying it already x #theordinarymoments
