I know it’s early to mention *whispers* Christmas, but if you’re anything like me, it’s something you’ve started to think about and plan. I have to admit, I have my Christmas shopping pretty much done, I’ve set a reminder to book the festive food delivery slot, and I’ve got the Christmas Eve pyjamas on order. I hate leaving everything to the last minute, and with a new job to get to grips with before Christmas, being organised was essential for me this year.
One of the things I often forget until nearer the time is advent calendars. We usually get the children an alternative to chocolate, opting for either a toy, stationery or pamper type option. We have been sent 2 of the new range Playmobil advent calendars that are available this year, so if you’re in the market for a toy advent calendar, it might be worth checking out what these include!
Eliza was sent the Playmobil Farm advent calendar – perfect for her as she is really into animals at the moment. There are 24 different boxes to open in the run up to the big day, and each one is part of a farm scene. The calendar also includes a fold out farmyard playset, so you can set up the scene day by day.
The farm advent calendar is recommended for children aged from 4 years, and I would agree with this. Some of the pieces are quite small, but are ideal for Eliza at 5. She really enjoyed setting up the pieces one by one, and seeing the farm develop. She has added other pieces from her existing Playmobil collection to extend the play too.
Max has been taking a look at the ‘Battle for the Magic Stone’ advent calendar. This is a medieval style set up, with knights, horses, shields and swords. This one is recommended for children aged 5 and over, again due to some very small parts. Max is 7, and this was the perfect option for him.
The attention to detail is second to none, and again Max really enjoyed seeing the scene develop piece by piece. The fold out play area that comes with the calendar is the perfect backdrop for setting up a medieval re-enactment and encouraging play.
Both these Playmobil advent calendars are priced at £19.99, which I think is really great value for the amount you get. These are the equivalent of a small Playmobil playset, and will offer endless hours of play. A great value, fun filled option for advent this year, and one that comes highly recommended by both myself and the children.
