Dressing the bump – Verbaudet Maternity wear review

Like a lot of mum’s to be out there I struggle to find nice maternity clothes that both flatter my new shape and don’t do too much damage to my wallet, so when I was asked to review some maternity wear from Vertbaudet I was very interested to find out what I would think about it.

My bundle of maternity wear arrived, and I was pleasantly surprised by the softness of the materials when I unpacked it.

My bundle contains:

Grey maternity set – yoga trousers, vest top and long hooded cardigan

Purple jersey dress

The Cardigan

The item I was drawn to first was the pale grey hooded cardigan, as it is long-line which I love, and it looked very comfortable and versatile. It is a great fit and would look good with a number of outfits, both casual and smarter. I also loved the 3/4 length sleeves. The only adjustment I would personally make is to have the option of fastening it at the front, but this is just my personal preference.

Also included in the set along with the cardigan is a vest top and a pair of yoga trousers. I actually attend a pregnancy pilates class and so thought that these items would be perfect for this – and they were. The trousers are super stretchy so allow you to move freely, and the vest top keeps you cool and comfortable. They would also be perfect for wearing around the house, especially towards the end of your pregnancy when you can start to feel a bit uncomfortable. The only slight issue for me was the length of the trousers – I am 5’3″ and they are slightly too long for me, but they would be very easy to take up if required.
The final item I tested was the dress. This is a gorgeous deep purple colour, and made from lovely stretchy jersey material which means it stretches with your growing bump without making you feel restricted in any way. This dress could easily be dressed up or down with the use of accessories and other items of clothing. I have so far tried it as a ‘day’ dress with leggings and boots, and an ‘evening’ dress with some sandals.
It is ever so comfortable and floaty, and I have had a lot of compliments on it.
My favourite thing about this dress is the fact that it can also be worn whilst breastfeeding, as it has nursing slits discreetly below the neckline. I think this makes it great value, as it can be worn from day 1 of your pregnancy, right through breastfeeding, and probably afterwards too, as the jersey fabric means that it won’t be pulled out of shape through pregnancy wear.
Overall? I am very impressed with the quality and versatility of these maternity items, as they will see you right through pregnancy, feeding and beyond. The set of trousers, top and cardigan retails at £49.00 and the dress at £39.00, both of which I think are very good value for these items. I also think the sizing is accurate – I am normally a size 10/12, and all these items are the 10/12 size which fit perfectly.

* I was sent these items free of charge for review purposes but all thoughts and opinions are my own *
