milk&more review

You may remember that about a month ago I was given the opportunity to review the milk&more delivery service. You can read my introductory post here.

We have now been using the service regularly for the last month, usually ordering about once a week. The ordering process is very simple – it works in the same way as an online supermarket shop, with sections such as milk, bakery and confectionery.
Everything is fairly reasonably priced, especially when you factor in the fact that it is delivered to your door, for free. There is a huge range of essentials to choose from, all the things you run out of quickly – bread, milk, eggs, butter, juice etc – as well as quite a lot more. I was pleasantly surprised to see items such as toilet roll, bin bags and *ahem* wine. They are also essentials, right?
My only real niggle with the online ordering service is the fact that it doesn’t show you a running total as you order – in fact even when you checkout, the full amount you have spent does not show, so you need to add it up yourself as you go along in order to know how much you have spent. I know, I know, this is not a huge problem, but it is a little bit annoying, especially when you are in a rush.
Our first order arrived on the day we selected, and I was pleased to see that everything I had ordered was present and correct, and in good condition.

Next time round, I forgot to place my order until fairly late in the day when I realised we were almost out of bread and milk, but luckily you can order right up until 9pm for next day delivery – which meant we had bread for the kids lunchboxes by the very next morning. This can be really handy when you run out of something crucial!
I also like the fact that you can order some of the heavier items that you might not want to carry home from the shops. We go through a huge amount of milk, potatoes and squash, but as I only have the pushchair during the week, and no access to a car, it can be really hard to fit everything I need into the basket – and if it won’t fit it means I have to hang the bags from my arms while walking home. Not fun.
We have now had 4 deliveries from milk&more, and have not had any major issues. There was one delivery where the milkman forgot to leave one of the items I had ordered, but by 9.30am he had popped back and dropped it off for me. No big deal, and actually a very good service. I can highly recommend it.

We were provided with funds in a milk&more account for the purpose of this review, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
