Breastfeeding is something I feel passionate about, and something I write about frequently. You can read some of my breastfeeding posts here. So when Pinter & Martin got in touch about one of their new books from La Leche League International, I knew it would be right up our street.
Sweet Sleep really appeals to my parenting style. It describes itself as an organic, natural book from a group of well informed researchers and writers who are willing to speak up on behalf of bed sharing for breastfeeding families. Full of tips and helpful hints about how to understand and respond to what your baby needs at night time and nap time, it’s something of a bible for breastfeeding mums and their families.
We have all seen the backlash that somebody gets when they dare to mention breastfeeding, bed sharing or ‘too much’ cuddling on social media. It always starts a debate, and so many fantastic parents have been led to doubt their abilities, their parenting methods and their baby’s needs. The last one really gets me – as if there is a thing as ‘too much’ cuddling?! People who believe this will spoil babies are so very wrong.
Sweet Sleep is a gentle, encouraging book full of everything you need to know to follow the natural parenting style you desire. It contains everything from the emotional causes of crying and the sleep cycles of your baby to safe bed sharing practice and coping after a C section. All practical, valuable advice from real people who have been there before, backed up with professional research.

I think I would have to say that my best sleep tip is safe bed-sharing and feeding to sleep.
That worked really well for us.

I used a musical cot light with my little ones. The tune was soothing and little lights in the shape of stars moved slowly around the room – it seemed to send them off to sleep!
I could have done with something like this when mine were newborn!! thanks for linking up with #readwithme I have tweeted and pinned this post x

I found it was best to put her in the cot when she was very drowsy and usually she drifted off to sleep on her own. if I waited until she was asleep she tended to wake up sooner.

Have a bedtime routinue, relaxing surroundings and atmosphere make settling to sleep easier. Quiet peaceful and natural lighting allow us all to gradually relax, and hopefully get a good night’s sleep.
