Where to shop for mens clothing

I find it really hard to buy clothes for men – the sizes confuse me, I can never work out whether a style will work for a certain person, and don’t even get me started on the boring range of colours. Black, navy or brown anyone?

But sometimes, clothes need to be purchased – whether that is for a gift or for general wear, and so I scour the web looking for new, non boring mens clothes to stock wardrobes with.

For my dad, I tend to choose from the knitwear end of the market. He likes soft, tactile tops that are easy to wear whether he is gardening, walking the dog or being forced to look around the shops by my mum. I really like the range of mens cardigans available at Woolover – practical and comfortable but still a little bit stylish – he might be my dad, but he can still rock a few trends.

For Kevin I love the stuff in Next, especially the Signature polo shirts. They come in so many cool colours that work with jeans, jumpers etc and they wash and wear really well. I also love the hoodies from 90:10 Man – they are comfortable, go with everything and come in some nice bright colours as well as the traditional navys and blacks.

If I am looking for gifts for family or friends I nearly always end up on the Jacamo website, purely because they stock everything from  smart suits and shirts to trendy trainers and jackets, all at reasonable prices. Their range of footwear is great – they have shoes for all occasions and styles.

When it comes to shopping for formal wear, I don’t think you can beat Suits Men. They have a really smart range of suits for all occasions, from weddings to office wear. They sell all the accessories to go with them too, so really are a one stop shop for the smarter style.

If all else fails, for basics you cannot beat the supermarket ranges. Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys all do great value tshirts, jeans and work trousers that won’t break the bank but look good and last well.

Wherever you choose to shop for men’s clothes, do double check sizes – as with most clothing, the sizes can vary from shop to shop. With Kevin’s birthday coming up in May, I will be hitting a few of the stores I have mentioned to stock up on some of his favourite bits and pieces, as well as some of the newer ranges that have caught my eye this season – especially anything with a splash of colour!
