Nautical fashion

I don’t know if it’s the time of year, the sunshine or seeing lots of cruise photos on What the Readhead Said‘s Instagram account, but I am really loving the nautical fashion that has sprung up recently. I love the fresh red, white and blue colours, the crisp cotton and jersey collars and the dinky little boats and anchors on all the tops and dresses. I am definitely stocking up on a few bits for the children ready for this summer, but it’s been really hard to choose which pieces to go for, so I headed to Melijoe for some inspiration.

I definitely want to get some red and white striped cotton dresses for Gemma – they will be perfect and cool in the hot sun, and will work equally well on the beach or at home in the garden. For Jacob, I am loving the funky denim and striped shorts and the tshirts with anchors and sail boats – they would really suit his casual style. For Max I NEED the striped rompers and long sleeved tops – they would be ideal for layering on the beach or for cooler summer evening BBQ’s.
I also had a sneaky peek at the baby section – if we have a boy I am going to order more of the striped rompers, and some floppy fisherman hats for snoozing in the pram. If we have a girl, she will wear the little puff sleeved rompers and matching bonnet style hat covered in little pink boats and seasidey things.

The next stage will be finding some of this cool nautical fashion for myself – but that will have to wait until after the baby is born!
