Review: TOMY John Deere Fun on the Farm playset

TOMY John Deere Fun on the Farm playset

Max loves anything tractor/digger/farm related, and we have a good selection of toy vehicles already. They are the toys he goes back to over and over again, and will happily play with independently while I am feeding Eliza or cooking dinner.

One of his new favourites is the John Deere Fun on the Farm playset from TOMY. Living in the Devon countryside, Max is used to seeing John Deere tractors and farm machinery, so it was lovely to see this replicated in toy version.

The set also includes a selection of farm animals, little people and some fencing so you can set up a miniature farm scene for imaginative play. The set is suitable from 18 months, and the pieces are all the perfect size for small hands, and well made. There are removable pieces that can be changed around to suit play – hay bales, fruit baskets and so on. The vehicles have easy roll wheels and moving parts so Max can really enjoy a full range of play. There’s a combine harvester with spinning thresher, a tractor with a tipping trailer, a digger with front loader, a 6-wheeled multi-purpose vehicle with a tilting dump box, plus a couple of extra trailers and the interlocking fences. The set also works well when mixed with our existing toys – it can be incorporated into other small world scenes, driven along our road mat and even join in the fixing of a railway track.

Max has been enjoying this set for a few weeks now. Often the novelty of a new toy will wear off quickly, but this set has remained a favourite for a while now. I think it is because it is so versatile, and can be played with in so many ways – as a structured play activity, independently or even outside in the muddy areas, on the grass or in the sandpit.

I have always loved TOMY for good value, well made toys and this set is no different. It will continue to entertain Max, and then Eliza, for many years to come.

Those are adorable, they would be just the thing for our playrooms here on the farm. Thanks for the heads up.

We’ve been trying out a toy from this range too and LM is delighted with it. Her big brother loves that it is a John Deere tractor as those are his favourite.
