Gemma, Jacob and Max love to ride their bikes. Up until now, we have been using a bike trailer for Eliza, but she really wants to get out on her own, like the older children. We considered a balance bike, but she’s not really big enough for one yet. So when Toddlebike got in touch, we were keen to see if this could be the solution for our independent 17 month old.
Designed as a pre-balance bike, the Toddlebike is small and compact, with narrow wheels which allow toddlers to learn about balance and steering safely. Suitable from as soon as confidently walking right through to the pre school years, it is a great step up from ride on toys.
Eliza didn’t need any prompting to try out the Toddlebike. She instinctively knew what to do, and the low height of the crossbar allows her to get on and off by herself. At the moment, she sits or stands over the crossbar, which Toddlebike describe as the usual first step. Because it is so lightweight (less than 1kg), Eliza is able to move it around with ease, and it is so easy to carry or hang on the pushchair when she wants to run around or play in the park. The large, hardwearing wheels have managed concrete, grass, mud and even gravel without any issues, so you really can take it anywhere! It’s a great alternative to a pushchair for short journeys such as the school run, and Eliza loves the independence.
Max is at the top end of the age range recommended for Toddlebike use, but he has loved it too. Although he is capable of using a balance bike, or a bike with stabilisers, he loves the freedom and ease of the Toddlebike too. He can whizz around on it at high speed, and it’s great exercise for him too! Being that bit older, he uses the seat rather than the crossbar, and despite it being low to the ground, he can still push it along comfortably.

the village park
Down by the river going to the park and beyond, along the paths exploring with mum xx
I think we would just start on the pavement next to granddad’s house.
Our local park and nature trail are great places for exploring – we are extremely lucky to have them on or doorstep and try to make use of them whenever we can
out and about the neighbourhood and around to Grandma’s house.
We’re lucky enough to have a nice park a short toddle away- he’d have great fun zooming about on this! cheers x
Only just discovered your blog, some great quality posts with a nice mix of topics while still feeling “one blog”. The toddler bikes look amazing, our oldest would love to wheel one of those up to pre-school 😉
Out and about around our home and to the park 🙂
Out and about the local village
He’d love to cycle round our local country park!
Around the garden and down to the shops
Everywhere. He will be the coolest kid of the block
Our local park, we visit every day
Everywhere but especially our local park… Lots of paths to ride around
On the big green outside our house
We absolutely adore Toddlebikes, they are so handy and perfect for 1 – 3 year olds. I have a growing fleet at Coombe Mill, off to enter your competition and try and grow it by one more! #TriedTested
Think the kids smiles show just how lovely this bike is 🙂 #TriedTested
