Life hacks for mums

Being a mum is one of the best jobs in the world, but it can also be stressful, and sometimes, having a few life hacks in your back pocket to make life a little easier feel will like a huge win!

This article explores some hacks you can utilise to save time, and money, and keep your kids happy!

Meal Planning

Let’s start with food, meal prepping is one of the biggest pains for a mum. Thinking about what to eat for dinner every night is exhausting as it is and can often lead to you reaching for the pizza menu!

With a little organisation, you can plan your meals in advance. This will save you time at the supermarket, as well as money, as you won’t buy anything you don’t need.

In addition, you can batch cook meals when you are less busy, so it’s essentially the same preparation time on an evening as using a ready meal, but without any nasty additives.

If you are on the go as a busy mum, you can also consider meal replacement shakes for yourself too. Shake That Weight are a company that makes meal replacement shakes that are filling and packed full of flavour. In addition to this they are also jam-packed with vitamins, minerals, and protein, so a great grab-and-go option when on the move. You can find out more by clicking the link.

Get The Kids Involved

Whilst chores can seem never-ending, getting the children involved in this is a wonderful way to introduce them to the idea that work brings rewards as well as making it a fun game for the younger ones.

Have a chore chart, and every time a chore is completed, the child gets a tick. After a number of ticks, they get a reward.

If your children are really young, turn the chores into a game. The Pickup game is where you pick up toys as quickly as you can, counting them as you do, and see how many you can pick up in a minute. Young children love this, and it makes your life a whole lot easier!

Rainy Day Games

Entertaining the kids can be challenging, especially on a day when they can’t get outside, so with this in mind, it’s a good idea to have packets filled with little activities you have created for your children, which are only brought out on rainy days and extreme boredom days.

By not letting them play with them all the time, the games and activities will still have novelty and keep them entertained, and it means you’re not trying to think of things for them to do on the spot.

Some ideas might include:

Magnet fishing: Cut out some paper fish and attach a paper clip to each. Then attach magnets to string to create fishing rods, and have your kids take turns fishing.

Crafts: Crafts are always a winner with kids, but have a packet packed with a specific craft activity like making a sock puppet or painting ceramics.

Baking: Kids love to bake, and having a cupcake bake kit at the ready is a great boredom buster for those rainy days!

Hopefully, these hacks will have given you some ideas on things you can do to make home life that little bit easier by pre-planning!
