Preparing for baby and birthdays

So, we are starting to buy bits and pieces for the new baby who will be arriving in May.

We have already managed to get a fantastic sleigh cot bed from Babies R Us in their January sale http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Nursery/Cots-and-Cotbeds/Sleigh-Cotbed-in-Dark-Finish(0093311)?searchPosition=2 , and have also got our fabulous Icandy Peach Jogger on order. http://www.icandyworld.com/uk/en/products/peach_jogger_carrycot. But it’s been a little while since I have had a newborn to look after and I cannot for the life of me think what else we might need!

Here is my ‘to buy list’ so far:

  • Moses basket, mattress and bedding
  • Muslins
  • Baby clothes – these will be bought after our scan next week so I know whether to buy pink or blue!
  • Nappies – we already have a set of Tots Bots Teenyfits and some Baba and Boo nappies, but we will need more – any cloth bum recommendations?

And thats where my list stops as I have forgotten all the other things we found really useful last time round! Would really appreciate some ideas from people as to what I have forgotten, as I am sure there are some more things I will need!

It is also Gemma’s 7th birhday in 10 days and I am a bit stumped as to what to buy her. It’s so soon after Christmas that theres nothing she really wants! We are taking her and a friend tenpin bowling, but would like her to have something to open on the day too – all ideas for a 7 year old tomboy appreciated!

I had very small gap between my first two and then a 6 year gap and couldn’t remember what i needed either! Luckily we had kept a lot of things so didn’t need to buy too much. Shame you are not close buy as our moses basket stayed in such good condition (babies are tiny for such a short amount of time) but couldn’t even give it away as no-one round here needed one! muslins are a must. We also found a swinging seat useful but again they don’t need them for long so second hand one might be a good for saving the pennies or try to borrow one. Look forward to seeing how things go. xxx

Thanks for the reply – had totally forgotten about a swing/chair! Have managed to secure myself a second hand Nuna Leaf rocking baby chair for a bargain price so am very chuffed right now!
