We recently agreed to take part in the Money Supermarket ‘Room for Improvement’ blogger challenge. This involved being sent a £50 budget with which to transform a room in our house.
Now, £50 is a lot of money but when it comes to home improvement and decorating items, it doesn’t go far at all – so we had to be creative with our budget.
We chose to make over our master bedroom. It’s a lovely big room but it’s just a little bit…well…boring!

- Red ‘Love’ motif cushion
Actually doing the makeover proved fairly simple – a case of changing the bedding, swapping old lamps and lampshade for new, and popping the cushion on the bed. We also took the chance to give our bedroom a really good spring clean, getting into all those dusty forgotten corners!
The end result is lovely (well we think so anyway!). The room feels much more ‘together’ and seems light, bright and airy, and I love the bright splash of colour from the red accessories.
