Review | Bibetta placemat

Mealtimes can be so messy with a toddler. Eliza is almost 3 now, and very independent. She’s pretty good at using a knife and fork on her own now, but there can still be a lot of mess – spilt drinks, drippy yogurt, milk from cereal bowls etc.

We were recently sent a Bibetta placemat to try out. It’s a really large, neoprene mat, and there are 4 bright designs to choose from. We went for the Safari pattern for animal mad Eliza.

It covers a good portion of the table, so Eliza can put all her bits and bobs on it easily. There is a flip out pocket on the front which helps to catch any food that is dropped – so not only does it keep your table clean, it helps to keep your toddler clean too! The mat can be folded into this pocket after use, so you can clean up without too much mess. It also offers a hygienic eating surface when you are out and about. The back of the mat is non slip, and although it doesn’t ‘stick’ to the table, it does stay in place well, and we have had no problems with it coming off during a meal.

We’ve never really used a special placemat before now, instead just resigning ourselves to lots of mess to clean up after each meal. The Bibetta placemat makes mealtimes much less of a stress. All the mess is contained, the pocket catches drops and spills, and it’s perfect for popping in the changing bag if we are heading out for the day. Priced at Β£14.99, I think these offer great value for money, and are a staple for any family with a baby or toddler.

We have a bibetta bib but never realised that they did a table mat. I love the look of this, perfect for home or when out and about

that looks like a good design and ace for eating out when you have to wonder how clean the tables really are! We’ve tried various bowls that suction to the table but they don’t really work and this would be good for babies to have their food put directly on to and a lot more interesting for older kids than just sitting up at the table
